Gibson, S. (1996). Consumption of cakes, biscuits and confectionery by British schoolchildren: association with nutrient intakes.

Abstract

Fat energy was positively associated with cake consumption, inversely with sweets and not signficantly with biscuits or chocolate. Conclude that above-average intakes of cakes, biscuits and confectionery do not appear to have a marked efect on fat energy intake, this attributable to the inverse relationship between fat energy and sugars energy.
